  • 24/12/2004 - We are having a committee meeting at the club at 7.30ish (after a few sets are out) on Jan 17. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all! Jonathan?
  • 15/12/2004 - The club's AGM was held on 13 Dec. The year's prizes were presented (see ClubPictures), President's and Treasurer's reports given, and the following committee was elected: President - Gordon Miller, Vice President - Gordon Struk, Treasurer - Norman Greenwood, Secretary - Tom Accola, Games Captain - Jonathan Adams, Web Master - Tze Weng Foong, Delegate to Leagues Club - Ken Shaw Committee Member - Chris Dimock, Committee Member - Michael Morris.
  • 11/12/2004 - The AGM and prize-giving for the year is on this coming Monday night, 13 December, (c. 7.40 PM, i.e. once sets are out etc.). Afterwards it will be a social chess night. The Christmas social night (with limited drinks provided free) will be Mon 20 Dec.
  • 11/12/2004 - Tidied up the front page a bit :-) - Moved all our old news items in to the Archived news Items page below.. I was a bit upset I was edged out from 3rd by Graham so I didnt want to see the news items anymore. :-) The Spring tournament has its own little page now here - MWRLCCC Spring 2004 Tournament Results its also been moved to Chess Tournament Results?. {tzeweng?}

The results of Manly Spring games played last Monday were:-

 Rd 7 D Webster    0-1  M Morris 1
 Rd 7 G Miller     +/-  J Radovan  (forfeit)
 Rd 11 S Liu       1-0  J McParland
 There is one game still to be played: C Wills - G Miller from Rd 11.

Congratulations to Michael Morris who has won the tournament with 10.5/11; Steven Liu who has finished second with 9.5 points; and Graham Dick who was 3rd with 8 points. Well done, guys! Congratulations also to Ruth Zalai who won the handicap prize.

Don't forget the AGM is on this coming Monday at 7.30 PM and the following week it is our Christmas social night. See the programme for the year. [Jonathan Adams]

  • 16/10/2004 - We congratulate Max Illingworth who has been selected to represent Australia in the World Junior Under 12 championships in Greece, November 2004. Let’s all wish Max all the best as he ventures overseas representing Australia.
  • Congratulations also to Michael Morris, who won the City of Sydney Junior Under 18, and to David Webster who was second equal. Our boys are doing good!!
  • 15/10/2004 - Added a chess computer called J-Chess to the website. Added picture of FIDE Master and former NZ champion Jonathan Sarfati playing blindfold chess against 12 oppponents with Manly-CC member Jonathan Adams acting as go-between, and reformated the photo album page.
  • 14/10/2004 - The club is very sad to report the passing of long time member Jack Goldwing. We send our condolences to his family.
  • 04/10/2004 - Our catchup meeting went well on Monday with at least 4 games completing. Remember please let Jonathan know your results if you have not already.
  • 04/10/2004 - Our new Interactive webpage is up. Have a play at the SandBox and let us know how you go..
